  72. .SH DESCRIPTION
  73. .IX Header "DESCRIPTION"
  74. \&\fBOSSL_sleep()\fR is a convenience function to delay execution of the calling
  75. thread for (at least) \fImillis\fR milliseconds. The delay is not guaranteed;
  76. it may be affected by system activity, by the time spent processing the call,
  77. limitation on the underlying system call parameter size or by system timer
  78. granularity.
  79. .PP
  80. In particular on Windows the maximum amount of time it will sleep is
  81. 49 days and on systems where the regular \fBsleep\fR\|(3) is used as the underlying
  82. system call the maximum sleep time is about 136 years.
  83. .SH "RETURN VALUES"
  84. .IX Header "RETURN VALUES"
  85. \&\fBOSSL_sleep()\fR does not return any value.
  86. .SH HISTORY
  87. .IX Header "HISTORY"
  88. \&\fBOSSL_sleep()\fR was added in OpenSSL 3.2.
